The 10th International Congress on the Genetics of Industrial Microorganisms (GIM) will be held under the auspices of the President of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic prof. Vaclav Paces in Prague, Czech Republic, on June 24-28, 2006. On behalf of the Local Organising Committee and on behalf of GIM we would like to warmly invite you to this important scientific event. The occasion is a very special one for us, the organisers, since the first GIM symposium was held in Prague in 1970. We are glad to welcome you back.

Please find below the tentative scientific programme that has been prepared with the advice of members of the local and international scientific communities. The congress will include plenary lectures, symposia, round table discussions and poster sessions. It will, we believe, provide a stimulating forum for a comprehensive discussion of current research in the genetics of industrial microorganisms and of future developments. We invite you to share and enjoy with us an exciting meeting in the historic atmosphere of Prague, a city of great charm and culture.
